RLAG #3 September 17th

Another great night at the final stage of the Race Like A Girl Series! Great showing in every category and even harder competition amongst them all. Due to less and less sunlight we were forced to combine the Mens A and Mens B categories for two of the evenings events, which created a 30-lap Miss-N-Out! Just awesome!

We want to thank all of our supporters for their help:
All 9 Yards Cycling Team
Mercy-Specialized Cycling Team
Des Moines Parks and Recreation
Rasmussen Bike Shop
Waukee Cycling & Fitness
Oakley
Monique Ryan and VeloPress
Janet Teachout Massage
Jane Riessen and Dave Mable

And an even bigger thanks to everyone who came out and raced!

** Due to the earth’s rotational axis being tilted at 23.5 degrees from vertical and its ecliptic orbit around the sun, we are currently experiencing what scientists call, “a noticeable seasonal shift”. When we calculate the longitude and latitude of our Central Iowa location and formulate the minutes of daylight we will receive during the season of autumn it becomes evident that our available sunlight will diminish over the course of the season. Meaning that if we held the final stage of the RACE LIKE A GIRL SERIES which has been scheduled for September 27th we will experience civil twilight, when the sun has set 6 degrees below the horizon- the final point of manageable illumination on our area, at approximately 6:31pm. Roughly twenty-five minutes sooner than the event held on the 13th of September. Hence we will not be hosting the final stage of the RACE LIKE A GIRL SERIES, and offer our deepest and most heartfelt apologies for any inconvenience we may have caused to anyone who many have been planning to attend.

RLAG #2 August 30th

Perfect weather brought plenty of people out to the second running of the RACE LIKE A GIRL series in Des Moines, IA. It is very exciting to watch the track-style format to each of the races. Which shows no favoritism to any one style of rider- hence it is never a safe bet to say that one person will always be the winner. This series is an awesome addition to our local race calendar and a very special thanks should go out to Jane Reissen and Dave Mable for all the work they do putting this series together. And a proper 3am-Southside-Trailerpark-Shout-Out to all of our baby’s daddies:

But, as usual, the top-notch team of race officials were barely awake for most of the evening. And in the wake of their blind, drunken stupor we’ve only gathered results for the top five riders in each event… so everyone else essentially ties for sixth; which really doesn’t seem to upset anyone except the person who truly got sixth place. (So to the people who actually earned sixth place in an event- it is now your goal to try just a little bit harder, or not try at all. Either way it works in your favor.)

RLAG #1 August 16th

We want to thank everyone who came out to the first running of the RACE LIKE A GIRL SERIES!

Since your race official has the scoring ability of a drunken, blind, 3-legged boar... the results from the evening had to be abridged. We were able to score (at least) the first five people across the line. Everyone else has essentially tied for 6th place- sooooo, congratulations are in order to all those athletes for making the top ten.

Also, team or sponsor affiliations were left out of the official results. Yeah, more of that drunken blindness.
